Meet our Staff!

Pastor: William “Bill” Burns: [email protected]

Grace, mercy and peace be unto you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  I serve as a Pastor under contract in a part time position. My main responsibilities are worship services on Sunday and congregational care.  I reside in Polk City with my wife Barbara, and we have four adult children.  For fun I like to travel in our motorhome, listen to country and western music, and tinker with odd projects around our home.

I am a Veteran having served in the US Army for three years, two of those in Vietnam.

I graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky with a degree in Social Work.  I went on to obtain my Master of Divinity from New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Before I retired for the first time, I served as a Pastor for over 35 years in the Reformed Church in America.  Now “unretired” I am deeply grateful and thrilled to serve God with the congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Auburndale.

Music Director: Tom Long

Tom was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and moved to Florida in 1999. I have worked in my family businesses and in healthcare before moving to Florida. Since the move to Florida I have worked in Real Estate.

I started piano lessons at 7 and classical organ at 15. I have been fortunate to study with several outstanding concert coaches including Doug Marshall in Lexington, MA, Paul Tegels at the New England Conservatory, John Walker at Riverside Church in New York City and Keith Chapman of Wannamakers in Philadelphia.
I have been playing for church services for more than 55 years. I love music and being an organist gives me the opportunity to share that music with other people.

Office Administrator Sue Habusta: [email protected]

Sue, a Licensed Practical Nurse was a teletypist, a school secretary, and a church switchboard operator. She loves typing and office work. Sue had done nursing care for elderly nuns in a Catholic Convent in Ohio before
moving to Florida. Her seven children are grown.
Sue has been to Africa twice to visit and to Switzerland three times. She plays in her family trees and has compiled a book for her Dad’s Mennonite family. Sue also plays violin here at church and in Lakeland Philharmonia (Orchestra).
I am so blessed to be part of this church, church staff and welcome to play my violin here!
